In a recent blog post, we explained on a base level what server virtualization is and its benefit for a cloud computing environment. But because virtualization has such a significant impact on IT infrastructure and business information technology, we found it appropriate to explain it more in depth.
Fundamentally, virtualization consolidates several physical servers into one virtual server. The benefit here is that for a business's technology environment, it increases efficiency and reduces the amount of hardware needed.
It's important to recognize that although virtualization consolidates several traditional hosted servers onto one physical box, each virtual server within that box is securely encapsulated and separate from the other virtual servers.
